What is the GTA Localization Consult-a-thon?
It's a consulting competition hosted by the Global Talent Association. Teams will develop a deep understanding of the Boston region and the non-profit industry and work on real-world business challenges and present their solutions to industry professionals. It uses the BE=EDGE method created by Dr. Julia Ivy to guide you through investing in your employability
Who can attend?
The event was originally created with international students and skilled newcomers in mind, but it is open for everyone
When is the event?
The GTA Localization Consult-a-thon runs from May 19th to June 7th.
What is the expected commitment?
The only in-person days are May 19, the weekend of May 30 & 31, and the award ceremony on June 7. During the other days, there is flexible time for you and your team to complete the challenges, so you can complete the program while working or studying!
Where will the event be held?
The event will be hosted at Northeastern University’s campus. Specific room details will be provided after registration.
Do I need prior consulting experience?
No prior consulting experience is required.
What kinds of challenges will I be solving?
The consult-a-thon part of the event is consulting for a non-profit case client, in this case Four Corners Main Street. Your team will be able to choose a facet of business through which to propose a solution, examples are: Marketing, Finance, Business Strategy, Management and HR, and Operations.
Will there be networking opportunities?
Yes, there are networking opportunities throughout with peers and nonprofit representatives. There is also networking time planned throughout the final event with local experts and professionals.
Will I receive a certificate?
Yes, all participants will receive a certificate and a recommendation letter.
